Summer Faith Challenge (Day 1 of 42)

19 May 2008 / Dave / 42, blurbs

The number 42 is not just the answer to life, the universe and everything, it’s the number of days of our summer faith challenge. If you weren’t in the Burg on Sunday, be sure to listen to Jim’s talk and join us in this 6 week commitment. Here’s the alliterated premise:

  1. Start my day with God.
  2. Saturate my mind with his promises.
  3. Set my goals based on these promises.
  4. Spend time with people who build my faith.
  5. See what happens. (OK, I added this one.)

For my first day, I browsed into 1 Kings 17-19 to the enigmatic life of Elijah. His question to the Ahabite Baal worshipers was directed at me: “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” It couldn’t have been a more appropriate beginning for me on this challenge. The only difference is my false gods go by different names, maybe I’ll get to that in a future blurb… check back and see.
