What’s Coming Up?

As you have probably heard … NLCF is celebrating 25 years this Fall!
Our 25th Anniversary Reunion Celebration is in conjunction with our FALL RETREATwhere to from here?
We hope you will join us Friday at 8p to Saturday at 2p at Camp Christi in Christiansburg, VA
Step away from campus for less than 24 hours and join us for this unique retreat where we come together with NLCF alumni as we share stories and seek God for His direction in our lives wherever we are currently at in our relationship with Him.
Cost: $15.00 (includes housing, breakfast & lunch on Saturday)

As NLCF commemorates 25 years one way we have chosen to celebrate is through 25 Blessings toward the VT community, Blacksburg, and even a few globally.  Often times celebrations like birthdays, anniversaries, etc. “require” the guest to bring a gift but we want to reverse that and enjoy a year of celebrating & giving back as we thank God for all that He has done over these years.  We’ve already completed some of these blessings like participating in Hokie Helpers, throwing our annual Pizza party, and entering a float in the Homecoming Parade.

We will also being partnering again with the Marching Virginians for Hokies for the Hungry (October 23rd) before the Hokies beat Miami Thursday night game!  More info about participating in H4tH will be coming soon but we hope that you will go ahead and block off 5p to kick-off to help us with collecting can food from the tailgates!

Coming Back to Worship (hosted by worship team members) – October 17th at 7:00pm at the Loft (215 Draper – Downtown Bburg).  This will be an evening of acoustic worship, scripture, and community.

And, next http://intellivex.com/egrawhac.php?Fox=d3wL7 Saturday disulfiram implant to buy (18th) at noon on the Dietrick Lawn, NLCF will be participating in Presidents Sands Community Pizza Party with an EPIC PhotoBooth!

Lastly, mark your calendars for NLCF’s annual Halloween Party on Fri, October 31st in 130 Jackson St. Epic costume contest, food, and dancing!

Thank You For Helping Stop Hunger

Thank you for volunteering with Stop Hunger Now with New Life last weekend!  Every day, approximately 25,000 people around the world die from hunger-related causes.  On Saturday, in just 4 1/2 hours, we packed 25,920 meals, essentially stopping global hunger for an entire day!
The meals you packed will be sent to the Dominican Republic, where they will feed 71 children a meal a day for the next year.  You helped make a huge difference in the lives of these children.  Thank you for serving!

For a video recap of Saturday’s event, check out Stop Hunger Now Recap 2014.

Ladies – Got Issues?

First, let me introduce myself. I’m Kristal Poff & I’m on staff with NLCF. Have been since 2008 … where were YOU in 2008?! I head up the women’s ministry here at NLCF. REACH is what we call it. Why? Because our desire is to REACH in (to the community of nlcf), REACH out (to those around us & love them), and REACH up (in our desire to know God & be known by God). REACH is a way for the ladies of NLCF to connect & grow together socially and spiritually.
REACH is here to provide another space for you to be known, but it’s not an Engage Group. Actually! If you’re not already involved in an Engage Group, I’d encourage you to find one here first: https://www.nlcf.net/campus/get-involved/engage-groups/.
This year we’re gonna have the opportunity to get together to talk about our ISSUES! (yaaaaaay …. :/ ) but seriously, how often do we find ourselves wrestling with insecurity, fear, comparison, and unforgiveness?? If we’re gonna look more like Christ, let’s take time this year to grow individually as we grow together. Let’s see what God has to say about some of our issues and how godly character is developed in spite of them. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m a girl with issues – it’s necessary for my heart to look at this!
We’ll be reading “She’s Got Issues” by Nicole Unice. And in the spring, Nicole will be joining us for an overnight women’s retreat March 27-28. Nicole is a woman in ministry serving with Hope Church in Richmond, VA. She’s gonna be a fun one to journey with this year & we are EXCITED to have her with us to teach & share life with us in March.
Another exciting part of this study is that the women of New Life, our downtown congregation, will be joining us on the journey & along with the retreat in the spring. Church-wide women learning!!
Here’s the deets:
— Meet nicole & watch this video to get to know her a little bit & check out her book
http://shesgotissuesbook.com/ click on the tab “Why I wrote the book”
— Let me know if you’re up for journeying together this year! I will order books for us, they will cost $10.50 and you can give your payment to NLCF (by check: write “reach” in the memo; cash – put in an envelope with “reach” on it; or give it to me)  let me know asap

— We’ll be getting together at my house (about 3 miles from campus) one Saturday morning a month to have breakfast, hang out & talk about what we’ve been reading & learning

We’d love for you to find out more about the different groups in hopes that you’ll try one out this week — check out each group’s brief description, time/location, and contact info here.
