Recycled Items Needed

There are several items that we need for two summer kids’ events: CREATE 2011 and Vacation Bible School. If you have any of these laying around the house, we’d love to put them to some crafty use!

  • Magazines
  • Empty “CapriSun” juice bags (other brands are okay too)
  • Shoeboxes
  • Plastic sport drink or water bottles
  • Miscellaneous small trinkets (marbles, beads, shells, buttons, etc.)
  • Old records (33 1/3 LPs)
  • Maps (out-of-state maps taht are taking up room in your globe box would be great!)
  • Small baby food jars with lids
  • Fabric scraps
  • Panty hose (no holes please!)
  • Yogurt Containers

[nlcf] Kids needs you!

There are summer opportunities to serve with [nlcf] Kids! There is something for everyone.

Sundays: Many of our regular volunteers will be heading to various places over the summer, so we need your help! If you would be interested in volunteering once-a-month (or more) on Sunday mornings, please contact Jeanette.

Summer Events:

CREATE 2011 (creative arts camp) is happening June 27th-30th! We need volunteers to help with kids ages 5-10 years old.

Inside Out & Upside Down on Main Street (Vacation Bible School) is happening July 25th-29th! We need volunteers to help with kids ages 4-10 years old.

Please mark these dates on your calendar and share them with any friends with elementary-aged kids. If you would like to volunteer for any of these needs, please email Jeanette.

There will be an info session for volunteers on May 15th following the service.

Benefit Yard Sale

Yard Sale! Saturday, April 30th @ 130 Jackson from 7.30 – 1.00p!
Come and shop or donate items for the sale! All profits will directly support the 2011 [nlcf] mission trip to the Vorzel Orphanage in Ukraine and the St. Clair Adoption Fund.

Do you have unwanted items laying around the house? Donate them to the Benefit Yard Sale! Donations will be accepted between 12-4 on Wednesday and from 9-12 on Sundays at 130 Jackson. Or contact Kati Williams to arrange a drop off-time.  All items must be received by April 28th.

Pancake Breakfast for Ukraine Missions

Come out to help support the [nlcf] Ukraine missions team and Rob and Jess StClair who are adopting a Ukrainian boy, Riley. For more information about the StClairs and their fund-raising for Riley, visit: http://stclairadoption.blogspot.com.

Where: BCM @ Virginia Tech located at 307 Washington St. (parking is available in the municipal lot behind the library)

Christmas Dinner Theater

You’re Invited to a night of Christmas Cheer!

Bring your friends and family for an evening of music from local artists, a children Christmas skit, and a dinner together.

A suggested donation of $5 (per adult) will go to the costs of the evening as well as a gift to the Montgomery County Christmas store. Childcare will be provided if needed, just mention it in your rsvp.

Ukraine Mission Trip Info

[nlcf] will be taking another missions trip to Ukraine this summer! We will spend 1 or 2 weeks (the option is yours) in an orphanage. Ladies will spend most of their time playing with children and guys will spend most of their time doing construction related projects (no construction experience needed). There is room for overlap, but that is the general plan.
We will be leaving the US on May 27th and you can choose to return after one week or two. The cost of the trip will be roughly $2,000. This number is subject to change depending on the cost of plane tickets. If you are interested in this trip please contact Kati Williams.

$5 Spaghetti Dinner and Donation Collection

Join us for a $5 All-You-Care-to-Eat Spaghetti Dinner to help raise funds and collect donations for our Honduras Team! We’ll be hosting dinner on Saturday, Dec 11th from 6:30-8:00p in 130 Jackson. This will be a great chance to hear about what the team will be doing in Danli over Spring Break this year!

We will be collecting the following items to take with us to Honduras:
– Spanish Bibles
– kids shoes
– clothing
– hygiene items (toothbrushes, soap, etc.)
– small toys (beanie babies, dolls, matchbox cars, etc.)
