This year in NLCF, we will be joining together in various ways, both as a community and individually, during the season of Lent.
Lent is the 40 days (not including Sundays) from Ash Wednesday to the Saturday before Easter. Lent is often described as a time of preparation and an opportunity to go deeper with God. Historically, the church has focused on three main areas during the season of Lent: charity, fasting and prayer.
These elements allow us to join the suffering of Jesus as we take time for personal reflection that prepares our hearts and minds for Good Friday and Easter.
We’ve created an overview of what we plan to do as a church community, which can be downloaded below.
March 2-5 Prayers of Confession
March 7-12 Focusing on Jesus using “Jesus is…So that” statements
Resources for Lent
Here are just a few resources we’ve curated that relate to the season of Lent and the spiritual discipline of fasting. This is not an exhaustive list by any means… just a place to get started if you want to dig deeper.
