Who We Are
NLCF is an interdenominational church with two congregations: a student congregation and a community congregation (New Life). Our vision is to invest in spiritual growth, invite others to follow Jesus, and inspire each other to change the world. We carry this out with Sunday worship gatherings, Engage Groups (our version of small groups), men’s and women’s ministries, missions, and more. Browse our website for more about who we are and what we do and feel free to send us an email with any questions!
** During the summer months we join with our community congregation, New Life, at 10:00am in 130 Jackson. **
- 11:00am @ Colonial Hall, Squires Student Center (walk through the front doors, go up the staircase, and Colonial Hall is the big classroom at the top of the stairs on the right). Larger, high energy worship gathering.
- 7:07pm @ 130 Jackson. Smaller, more laid-back atmosphere.
Engage Groups, like most small group models, meet once-a-week, usually on a weeknight. The purpose of Engage Groups is threefold: to help us grow in our walks with God (through scripture study, prayer, and worship), help us form deep friendships and community, and it is also meant to help us “engage” with those around us in our day-to-day lives. We do that by organizing Engage Groups around a shared interest, hobby, or location that is meant to help us connect with people that have the same interest/hobby or that live in a shared location (like a dorm). Some examples of Engage Groups within NLCF are focused on intramural sports, music, specific majors, specific dorms on campus, etc. We will have multiple opportunities for you to learn more about Engage Groups and how you can join one (or check out this page)!
Ways to Get Involved
There are tons of ways to get involved! It’s a great way to serve the church, serve others, and make great friends while doing it! We are going to spend a couple weeks at the beginning of the semester introducing you to a lot of the different ways you can serve in our Sunday gatherings, help build community, and serve others outside NLCF. Here’s a peek at some of the ways you can get involved:
What is 130 Jackson?
130 Jackson is a place that NLCF uses for Sunday services, meetings, and events. It’s located just a block and a turn away from Squires Student Center in downtown Blacksburg. It’s a fun place to hang-out and we have a lot of church-wide events there. It’s a place you’ll soon be familiar with.
It’s also a building we allow members of the community to use for parties, concerts, and events. All-in-all, it’s a pretty happening place! Check out this video or see directions below for details on how to get to 130 Jackson from campus.
Directions: from Squires Student Center walk towards the downtown area on College Avenue. At Souvlaki’s take a right onto Draper Rd. Just past Bollo’s coffee shop, take the staircase on your left. The building at the top of the stairs with the green roof is 130 Jackson.
