Hokies for the Hungry

Thursday, November 17th is the VT/UNC Thursday night game. More importantly, it is Hokies for the Hungry!!! This will be our 3rd year of teaming up with the Marching Virginians to accept cans of food and cash donations for a local food bank! We would love to have everyone be a part of this effort! We will need truck drivers and cash and can collectors Thursday night and volunteers to help sort all the donations at the food bank on Friday. You can participate and still see the entire game if you want! More info will be coming soon!

Ignite 2011

The Ignite Conference is coming up this December 28th-30th in Columbus, Ohio! Roadtrip, anyone??

It is held by an organization we partner with called Great Commission Ministries, and students from across the country will be coming together to be ignited for Christ! We will be challenged with soul-stirring truth, heart-touching stories, and powerful worship. In workshops and from the main stage, teachers old and young will speak with passion, power, and insight as they share their life experiences and their encounters with God.

Auditions for Music Teams this week!

Auditions for our Music Teams are happening THIS WEEK on Tuesday and Friday. If you are a singer or play an instrument and would like to use your gifts and skills to help lead worship, contact us to sign up for an audition time!

Auditions last about 20 minutes and you will play/sing 3-4 songs. You can prepare a song that you feel comfortable with, and we will likely ask you to play/sing through 2-3 other songs that vary in speed and style. If you are a singer, we will ask you to try singing harmonies.

To be a part of [nlcf]’s music teams, we ask that you would call [nlcf] your church home, and that you would get involved in discipleship with a small group through [nlcf] or another ministry. Our desire is to see the members of our music teams growing in their walks with God through fellowship and accountability. In terms of time commitment, you would be committing to a 2-hour practice each week and your band will likely lead every other Sunday at either the 11.00a service or the 7.07p service. The total time you will serve on a Sunday would be around 3- 4 hours (this includes set up before and tear down after). Feel free to contact us with any other questions!

Find Out How You Can Get Involved!

Starting this Sunday, Sept. 4th, we will be spending three weeks highlighting some of the ways you can get involved in ministry with our campus congregation at [nlcf]. We will talk about them during the 11.00a and 7.07p services AND have opportunities for you to find out more and talk to leaders and staff after the services!

We put our ministries into three categories using words you’ll probably hear a lot around [nlcf]: up, in, and out. “Up” ministries refer to the things that help us grow in our relationships with God and facilitate our worship. “In” ministries refer to the things that help us grow in our relationships with each other and facilitate community. “Out” ministries refer to the things that give us opportunities to reach out to those around us and facilitate a missional lifestyle.

On Sept 4th, we’ll be highlighting our “Up” ministries: music, sound, projection, lights, STUD (set-up, tear-down), and HUG (hospitality)!

On Sept 11th, we’ll be highlighting our “In” ministries: Engage Groups and [nlcf] Kids!

On Sept 18th, we’ll be highlighting our “Out” ministries: Roanoke, Honduras, Ukraine, Mississippi, and Leadership Training!

If you can’t wait to find out more, browse our website for more info about these different ministry opportunities!
